How It Works

Thank you for choosing us for your saltwater fish needs!

Typically, when you place an order for a fish, we source that fish specifically for you. Because of this, the time between ordering and receiving your fish can often be a few weeks. However, from time to time—whether fulfilling other customer orders or for various reasons—we may have more than one of a particular species on hand. These fish are kept in stock and can ship more quickly. We also regularly keep a handful of fast-moving species like clownfish, certain tangs, and angelfish in stock.

In this hobby, we've noticed that while many small companies do an excellent job with corals, the quality and customer service around fish often leave a lot to be desired. Our goal is to provide the healthiest fish possible for your aquarium. You’ve invested a lot into your setup—the last thing you need is to waste money on fish that arrive in poor condition or die shortly after. Healthy, conditioned fish not only ship better but also make excellent additions to your reef after your own observation or quarantine. Our quarantined fish are even more likely to thrive long-term, though we still recommend a couple of weeks of observation upon arrival—no quarantine process is 100%.

When you order a conditioned or quarantined fish (unless it’s marked WYSIWYG), we’ll contact you by phone or email to set a timeline for sourcing and preparing the fish. This also allows us to coordinate shipping based on weather and your schedule.

For conditioned fish, once the fish arrives, we ensure it is visibly healthy and eating. After 10–14 days in our systems, it can then be shipped to you.

For quarantined fish, the process takes longer. It begins the same, but we then run the fish through a thorough protocol designed to eliminate pathogens and parasites. This protocol can vary depending on the species. After completing the protocol, the fish must show no signs of illness for 14 days before it’s eligible for shipping.

We understand that our fish may carry a higher price tag than some competitors. However, the added value of conditioning or quarantine is well worth the investment. When you factor in the potential losses from buying unhealthy fish—whether online or from a local fish store—the costs can add up quickly. Plus, introducing questionable fish into a reef tank with thousands of dollars' worth of livestock can be incredibly risky and expensive.
